An unnamed man from the Prairie State recently won a life-changing $million prize after purchasing a $20 lottery ticket. Reports say the player and his wife stopped at a Pilot Travel Center on Illinois Route 47 in Morris to get gas before buying the lucky winning ticket.
The 66-year-old played the 100X Payout scratch-off game because his granddaughter loves the color pink. Interestingly, he had to get home before scratching off the card because his wife said this could bring him good luck.
"Once we got back home, I scratched the ticket alone, and I couldn't believe it, the ticket was a $2 million winner. I was laughing and crying at the same time. We are just ecstatic," the player said.
After winning the huge sum, the lucky winner plans to retire from his profession of 40 years. The player and his wife will fulfil their dream of traveling to different destinations in the United States.
Speaking to the state's legal scratch card operator, the player said:
“When I told my boss the news of my retirement, he wasn't happy. He asked me, 'What's it going to take to get you to stay?' I chuckled and said, '$2 million.'”
